“For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:8)
Who do you look for when you need help, when you need the answer to an important question? Do you ask God first?
In 1 Chronicles 14:10, King David did ask God first. In view of the attack of Philistine warriors, he could have supposed God would command them to fight them, but to take out the guesswork of the situation, he asked: “Shall I go up against the Philistines?” And the Lord told him: “Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.”
In the face of a difficult situation, we could leave room to doubt and get carried away with speculations, trying to find solutions on our own. However, we shouldn’t forget that sooner or later, we’ll need to come to God and find the light at the end of the tunnel, the light that will bring us the peace and safety He promises to His children.
If you’re overcome with doubt, come before the Lord and discover what exactly what He wants you to do. Don’t make decisions on your own and then ask God to bless your plans. Come before Him and tell him: “Lord, what are your plans for me?” your plans are already blessed, and if you follow them through, victory is guaranteed.
Lord, make me humble so I can come before you and listen carefully, so I can know what you expect from me in any circumstance. Help me trust, not in my own judgment, but in Your wisdom, mercy and love; help me trust Your will for me. Amen
